Why vote on the superintendents contract just a few weeks before a new board takes over?

Salazar said "One of the most important decisions this board needs to make is who will be the superintendent, why decide tonight when the majority of board members may change in just a few weeks? Why rush this decision?"

Salazar questioned the boards motivation in making this decision now. "There seems to be a cozy, go along to get along relationship between the board and the superintendent. His contract goes through until next year, why extend it 47 days before the election? "

Salazar questions the timing of this contract extension, and why the negotiations were done in a "Closed Session". "In addition to the timing of the contract extension, the question arises why it was negotiated without any public discussion in a closed session and then reported in a memo? A new board will be elected in just a few weeks, they will have the responsibility for the district; let them decide on a new contract for the Superintendent. Let it happen in the light of the day, not in some backroom. This is no way to do business. It is not good for the district, it's not good for the parents, and most of all it's not good for the students. They deserve better."

Salazar calls on the superintendent to stand up to the board. Salazar said, "Mr. Noah should take the initiative and reject the new contract extension and instead let the new Board make the decision regarding his employment. Therefore, I urge Mr. Noah to forgo any contract extension until the newly elected board has a chance to conduct a full review, and make their own decision."
