Raising the Bar for Student AchievementBy Pete PetersonCandidate for Board Member; Conejo Valley Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
CVUSD students are among the highest achievers in the State, especially in Ventura County. Our instructional program is key in continuing the progress achieved to date.CVUSD's Academic Performance Index (API) scores are proof-positive that our students are high achievers at the highest level. As the bar is raised over the next few years, our teachers, and the instructional program that supports them, need to be provided with staff development opportunities that allow them to be successful and ensuring that in CVUSD, there will be No Child Left Behind. Although funds will be limited over the next few years, we will need to be creative to find the resources necessary for success. The District has already formed partnerships within the community along with the Conejo Schools Foundation and the many booster clubs to provide the much needed resources for various activities to limit encroachment of the General Fund. Our schools are also supported by a very dedicated staff of classified employees that make do with limited funds, reductions in hours, and unfortunately with a reduction in the number of employees. |
