Statement of Suzan Marciona, candidate for Village Trustee, Village of PelhamBy Suzan MarcionaCandidate for Member, Board of Trustees; Village of Pelham | |

I chose to run for Village Trustee because of the commitment I feel towards Pelham. I was raised here in the early19 70's, and have always used Pelham as a yardstick barometer for the quality of life I experienced as I traveled through the years. I chose to return to Pelham to raise my two daughters, based on the quality of education I received, the supportive community I grew up in, the safety I always enjoyed, and the proximity to the incomparable New York City. As a professional in the field of Landscape Architecture I believe I will bring a unique perspective to the Village Board. In my professional life I have learned that what is beneficial for the environment can also be economically sound. Pelham has tremendous natural resources. It is my hope to bring some knowledge to the table of recent developments in green infrastructure to help our community flourish. I also feel strongly about developing our local business community, because it is part of my personal philosophy. I shop at our local markets, get my hair done on Fifth the Avenue, purchase clothing and accessories at some of our local shops, attend church, and frequent many of our restaurants on a regular basis. But I think there is even more opportunity to capitalize on what we have already established. Wherever I am in Pelham, I run into people that not only know me, but also my children and my parents who still live here. I am invested. Suburbia is in a time of transition. This means changes in how we use and develop our business districts, how we commute, and how we protect our natural heritage. I believe that the skills I have learned and the principles I follow will benefit our village as we move into the future. Thank you, Suzan Marciona Fourth Ave. |
