Ballot Statement- Richard Holober for SupervisorNadia and I raised our children in San Mateo County, where we are blessed with wonderful small town neighborhoods. I want to make sure we maintain that charm, protect public safety, sustain vital health and senior services, and promote job creation. Getting County budget costs under control is my top priority. As President and Trustee of the San Mateo County Community College District, I carefully examined spending, reduced expenses and eliminated waste. We protected classroom education and avoided faculty layoffs at College of San Mateo, Caņada College and Skyline College. Today, with 20% less state funding, enrollments are booming, and we deliver quality education and job training to 40,000 local residents annually. Our "green building" practices protect our environment, saving taxpayers millions in energy costs. Tough times call for seasoned leadership. I have an unmatched 17 year record in elected office balancing complex budgets while maintaining essential services with fewer funds. I also run a non-profit consumer rights organization. I stopped insurance companies from raising rates on motorists with perfect driving records. I overcame Wall Street bank opposition to help enact the nation's strongest financial privacy law. Senator Barbara Boxer, California Nurses Association, county firefighters, teachers, and small business owners support my candidacy. I respectfully request your vote. Visit http://www.holober.com |
