I am a 25-year Jefferson Hills resident and parent of three Thomas Jefferson graduates. My work is as a self-employed CPA + my passion is serving the students and families of West Jefferson Hills in what I view as the "mission work" of school director. For the past 7+ years, I have worked diligently as the Finance Committee Chair to insure that your tax dollars are allocated in ways that maximize educational opportunities for all of our children, keeping taxes as low as possible, while providing the educational excellence that our residents have come to expect. I have advocated in Washington DC and Harrisburg to bring back additional grant monies to our district for instructional technologies ($500,000) and for the new high school marquee ($32,000). These efforts have allowed us to keep West Jefferson Hills' millage rate the 13th lowest (of 42) in Allegheny County, with no tax increase in four years. We have ahead of us some very difficult times in terms of state funding. School budgets, legislation that threatens the viability of public education, and spiraling state pensions are just a few of the challenges that threaten public schools, neighborhood communities, and property values. In these challenging economic times, we need Veteran Leaders with experience in balancing budgets - leaders who need NO on-the-job training. Please support our Focus on the Future team of experienced, proven leaders. |
