- Carlmont, Sequoia, Menlo-Atherton and Woodside are among the top schools in the country.
-
Our schools are known for their strong academic programs, excellence in athletics, Advanced Placement classes, program choice and overall campus environment. Redwood Continuation School has been recognized as a model in the state. Our four charter schools provide excellent choices and alternatives for students and parents. Beautiful, modern classrooms and school buildings are in evidence throughout the district.
- We need to close the Achievement Gap
-
Every year a significant number of students enter our high schools who are not prepared for the demands of high school. Many come from homes where English is not spoken and some come from low-income homes where little academic support is available. Still others come with significant learning or behavioral disorders. We must educate them all to the best of our ability.
- All students must take greater responsibility for their own learning
-
Over the past decade, our enrollment has increased and the number of immigrant students whose first language is not English continue to enter our schools in significant numbers. Students need to take responsibility for their own education, including the acquisition of American cultural values. We must make sure that all our efforts are focused on the acquisition of skills to give our students the opportunity to successfully compete in an English-language based economy.
