Ballot Statement

Education and Qualifications:

I have the experienced judgment and strong leadership skills that are needed during these challenging times. I have served on the Sequoia Union High School District Governing Board for twelve years; four years as Board President. I am proud of our accomplishments.

I'm proud that we have maintained strong financial reserves. The board has insisted upon building a large "rainy day" fund. Despite state budget cuts, that decision allowed the continuation of our strong academic programs at our schools.

I'm proud that over the years our board hired strong superintendents and principals. These are the education leaders who have made the difference in implementing the board's vision of improved education for all students. More students are graduating from high school and eligible to attend college.

I'm proud that our district spent construction bond funds wisely to provide our students with modern facilities. You gave us your trust; our students and communities are benefiting from your generosity.

We have set high expectations at all of our schools. Both my daughters graduated from Sequoia High School and were well prepared for success at University of California colleges.

I ask for your vote so that our children will continue to have access to the best educational opportunities.
