Answer: In our form of county government the Controller is the final independent check on the fiscal affairs of the Chief Executive and County Council. Performance auditing and benchmarking are key. Independent judgment and the willingness to expose waste and ineffectiveness are critical. I am not beholden to a political family or party. Regardless of who becomes Chief Executive I am without obligations to protect political careers. I can and will be a true independent watchdog. |
