Political Philosophy for Kent Davidson
Candidate for |

|
I believe in being fiscally conservative, spending money wisely, and saving money to be prepared in case of an emergency. As any taxpayer would want, I expect and strive to have full transparency in government. Certainly regarding any and all funds that are spent by government: It is "your" money, and it is the right of every citizen to know where that money is going and why. As well, policy decisions should be made in public meetings, and not behind closed doors; public discussion of issues should be encouraged, and public meetings should be given with advance notice, at times convenient for residents and businesses to contribute to the discussion. Communication is absolutely critical to having good government as well, and as such it is my duty as an elected representative to communicate issues and decisions with the public. As well, it is my duty to listen and represent residents, listening to their ideas and suggestions and making decisions based on their collective desires. Finally, government should strike a balance between the needs of local residents, and needs of local businesses. They depend on each other: Residents need a thriving business district to keep property values up and to offer services nearby, and businesses need to have a steady stream of new and burgeoning customers. |
