Pennsylvania must provide a better climate for business so we can attract and retain jobs in the competitive national marketplace. A pro-business climate would encourage startups to locate here, existing businesses to expand, and create new jobs in the process.1. Reduce Pennsylvania's corporate tax rate, which is currently the second-highest in the nation. High corporate tax rates are an obvious deterrent to companies that might otherwise do business here, and impedes job creation. 2. Completely phase out the Capitol Stock and Franchise Tax, one of the most regressive taxes on businesses in the country. 3. Streamline and simplify statutes and regulations. Small businesses in Pennsylvania spend too much of their money complying with unnecessary and excessive bureaucratic demands. We cannot lose sight of the fact that government is in the business of protecting the public health, safety and welfare. If a statute or regulation does not accomplish that purpose -- or if the costs of the implementation and enforcement of the legislation outweigh its benefits -- it should be eliminated. 4. Provide tax credits for businesses that hire employees and buy local products. 5. Create uniformity between the Federal and Commonwealth tax codes. |
