(Support of Good Government) What roles can the City Attorney play in supporting Oakland's Sunshine Ordinance, Campaign Reform Act, and Lobbyist Registration Act? Answer from Jane Brunner: The City Attorney should make sure these rules are followed, beginning with the City Attorney's Office itself. 2. (Orientation of new City Councilmembers) What role can the City Attorney play in the orientation of new City Councilmembers to the complexities of their job? Answer from Jane Brunner: The City Attorney can play an important role in orienting new City Councilmembers. The City Attorney should establish a cooperative rather than adversarial relationship with the City Council.
