What Makes Heather Reyes Qualified to be a TrusteeBy Heather ReyesCandidate for Board Member; Hayward Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
As a parent of two students attending Hayward schools, Heather Reyes knows the difference between a high-performing school and a low-performing school.I proudly served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1983-1988. My job was to think quickly, work as part of a team and have compassion toward the patient as the team tended to their injuries or illness. In 1988 I began work in the legal field and have worked at the same law firm since 1993 (with a small break of 4 years). As a Legal Administrator, I wear many hats reconciling financial documents, working closely with attorneys and clients to ensure smooth billing requirements. Also, I work closely with the office manager maintaining and streamlining the roles of employees. My break of 4 years from the legal profession was to be a small business owner. I educated families and businesses regarding debt management, insurances and investment planning. During this time I was an active member in the Hayward South Rotary Club where I participated in activities such as delivering dictionaries to 3rd grade classrooms within HUSD. Most importantly, my husband and I are parents of two students in the HUSD. Being a working mom has increased and honed my skills in multi-tasking, mediating, budgeting, nursing, coaching, teaching, cooking and cleaning! |
