This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Ken Silman

My age is: 38

My occupation is: Teacher

Education and Qualifications:

Over the past eight years, it has been my honor to serve on the BUSD board of trustees. The amazing efforts of the Byron Union School District community, from the unpaid volunteers of the PTA, the Board of Trustees, classroom volunteers, part-time yard-duties and stipended coaches to the custodial, maintenance, secretarial, teaching and administrative staff, humble me daily.

It is amazing the things our school district accomplished in difficult financial times: Two distinguished schools, the completion of the Excelsior Middle School project and the Measure C upgrades at our elementary schools are just a few of the success stories. Rising test scores district wide and programs for the disadvantaged, the disabled and children with special needs made us a destination for students in Contra Costa County. We maintained programs including art, music and interventions and expanded after school programs, while launching a pre-school of our own despite losing funding and manpower. The amazing effort of our employees and community above and beyond what any school district in the county gives is what makes our schools so successful.

With that in mind, I would be honored to serve this community for a third term to see what we do next.
