As a mediator, I bring important skills and a fresh perspective during this critical time of transition for Marin General Hospital. The old approach of "taking sides" must end. Marin cannot afford the dysfunctional past. There is a chance for a new beginning. We can incorporate the best everyone has to offer if we can learn to listen to each other, understand each other, and work together. This is the role of a mediator. This is what I am trained to do. This is what I will do. Sutter has left Marin General+ taking $180M with them and creating the need for a huge bond issue. There are good reasons to make competitive decisions privately. But the incumbents gave virtually all control of Marin General to a board that conducts all business outside of public view. Marin voters want transparency and meaningful public oversight. Compromise is essential so the entire community, most importantly patients, can feel supportive of Marin General and its goals. I will unify the Board, create transparency, restore power to the community, and ensure the best future for Marin General. |
