Prudent financial management is essential to Laguna Niguel's future.
I am currently Vice-Chair of the Investment, Banking and Audit Committee for the City. I have been intimately involved in oversight of the financial affairs of the City for some years. I am a strong advocate for a lean city government, outsourcing as much as possible to the private sector, all with strict accountability. I would work to maintain reserves sufficient to sustain the city during lean times and would not vote to incur any debt or investments that would put the city's capital at risk. I would only endorse balanced budgets and policies to maintain sufficent reserves to pay any and all pension or other liabilities on a look-forward basis. I am a proponent of cash-flow projections going out some years so that risks can be indentified early enough to deal with them. I have many years of experience in budgeting and evaluating budget performance and would bring that skill to the city council.
