? 1. How would you determine that the schools are using federal, state and local funds wisely and fairly and how would you report your findings to the community?

Answer from Patricia Martinez-Roach:

Each public school is required to present a plan which will determine how, when and who will be supervising the expenditures of funds and implementation. Governing Board Members are required to adopt or disapprove said plans during a regular public meeting.

? 2. Are the schools offering instruction appropriate to the diverse educational abilities of all the students?

Answer from Patricia Martinez-Roach:

East Side is working hard to provide opportunities for all students and we have succeeded implementing rigorous curriculum and mandating A-G graduation requirements.

? 3. Where do you want the District to be five years from now? What steps should the District take to get there?

Answer from Patricia Martinez-Roach:

I want all schools to reach their highest potential and for all students to have equal access and opportunity for advanced placement courses and go on to a four year university or if they choose, a vocational school.

College bound begins in pre-school. I am proud of the work we have done insuring articulation between feeder schools and the high school district. Planning and collaborating have become a major emphasis for school district to address student's needs. Education is everyone's business.

I will continue to work with parents and students during monthly meetings by providing guidance and tools for success.

If proposition 30 fails the district will be faced with more cuts which will impact student learning. We must all save our schools and find a way to fund schools.
