Why I want to be on Tri City Hospital Board of Trustees

I am running for the Tri City Medical Center board because I believe my experience in local government can assist the community during this critical transitional period as health care changes. I grew up in Vista, raised my family in Carlsbad and served on the Carlsbad Unified School District board for nine years. In my fourteen years on the Carlsbad City Council, I made decisions that helped create a well-organized, well-financed city. In 2009 the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce honored me with their Community Leadership Award. I am dedicated to seeing that the Tri City community has the best possible health care and hospital and a professional board to administer it. I served two terms on the TCMC Finance, Operations and Planning committee and also served as a member of the Executive committee for the Tri City Hospital Foundation.

I believe that the best quality of life for all of us must include access to top quality health care that is cutting edge with patients needs as its vocal point.

With all the changes in the delivery of health care and the challenges our hospital faces, we need dedicated, experienced leaders with proven ability to find real solutions. The elected hospital board must insure that patients care and their needs come first as tough decisions are made.

I listen more than I talk. When I do speak it is with respect and logic that is persuasive. I know how to work effectively on an elected board. I will listen to your concerns and seek out the best advice before making a decision. I am well known for my ability to find good solutions to complex problems and helping fellow board members to come to consensus.

I am endorsed by the mayors of all three of our communities and many other community members. This is an exciting time for Tri City Hospital. I want to be part of its future.
