East Palo Alto City Council - Proven Leadership for Todays East Palo Alto
As a public servant and former elected official, my professional life has been devoted to representing East Palo Alto on many of the important topics impacting the quality of life in our community. Today I seek your support so that I may continue to serve the citizens of East Palo Alto from the Council Chambers. My wife Lisa and my four sons have benefited greatly from the vibrant diversity of our community, and we proudly represent EPA where ever we go. As residents, we have committed ourselves to being the best neighbors and advocates for the right values of our community. As your Councilmember, I will insure that today's East Palo Alto joins the San Mateo County discussion on many important regional issues, while giving voice to today's residents and bringing community confidence back to City Hall. In San Mateo County, I have represented our collective interests on the Sam Trans Citizens Advisory Board, San Mateo Housing and Community Development Commission, Service League Achieve 180-Peer Mentoring Coordinator (a re-entry strategy to address recidivism) in the local jails, Community Advisor for the San Mateo County Fatherhood Collaborative, Community Advocate for Foster Care & Kinship support programs, Sequoia Union High School District appointed Member of the Bond Measure L Committee: In East Palo Alto, I have been elected to serve as a Trustee for the Ravenswood City School District, Elected Board member of the East Palo Alto Sanitary District, and appointed Commissioner to the Measure C Task Force. I serve a the Founding Chairperson of Making it Happen for Our Children EPA (community development initiative), Founder of the Al Julian Track Meet now in its 11yr. Founder of the Fellowship of Faith Consortium Group now in its 9th yr, Compassion Weekend Leadership Team member 2001-2009. My wife and I hosted the first National Night Out event in East Palo Alto in 2004 to build community relations now in its eights yr the event is held in 8 location thru out the city and is part of the Councils strategic plan for Community Development. I provided Leadership in reestablishing a California Police Activities League chapter in EPA.
