I will advocate for the reinstatement of Pay-Go controls on legislation. If legislation involves an increase in the National Budget, Pay-Go demands that the changes be paid for either in comparable spending cuts or tax increases.The level of the Budget Deficit is a significant issue. As a Nation, we cannot continue to expend more than we take in. We need to get our budget closer to balanced. We need to use a combination of reasonable spending cuts and tax increases to achieve this balanced budget. However, we do not need a balanced budget amendment; we just need to elect responsible legislators. We need to preserve the capability of the Federal Government to respond to crises without having to limit the response due to balanced budget concerns. I will advocate for the reinstatement of Pay-Go controls on legislation. If legislation involves an increase in the National Budget, Pay-Go demands that the changes be paid for either in comparable spending cuts or tax increases. |
