City Clerk; City of Burbank

This information is provided by the candidate

Zizette Mullins has been a resident and active member in the Burbank community for more than 30 years, moving here in 1982 to establish her own home where she and her husband would raise their family. Son Christopher was 5 months old, and three years later, Jennifer joined the family. Zizette was active in her children's education in the Burbank school system from kindergarten through graduation, and supported their participation in local sports leagues. Now that her children are grown and starting families of their own, Zizette enjoys the knowledge that a third generation of her family will benefit from all that this City has to offer. Zizette began her professional career with the City of Glendale in 1987 as a Customer Service Representative for Glendale Water and Power. In order to better serve the public, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 1998. Recognizing her education, experience and ability, the City promoted her to the position of Economic Development Analyst. Zizette continued to work for Glendale for more than 25 years, before leaving her role as Community Relations Manager to become Burbank's City Clerk. Her many responsibilities included personnel oversight, budgeting, business development, supervision and production of special events, project management, and acting as a liaison between the public, City departments and elected officials. Although working for the City of Glendale, Zizette maintained a strong connection with her hometown. She and her sister opened the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in downtown Burbank. This business opportunity allowed her to gain firsthand knowledge and experience of the needs and responsibilities of a private business owner. In June of 2012, Zizette sought to bring her community relations and managerial experience back to Burbank. After the retirement of the Burbank City Clerk, Zizette submitted her name in consideration for appointment to the Burbank City Council. On June 28th, Zizette was unanimously appointed from a pool of 12 candidates to fill the remaining unexpired term of the City Clerk. Today, Zizette manages six employees in the Clerk's Office and is responsible for keeping and maintaining all City records, conducting Burbank's municipal elections, and providing information about the City to members of the public. She is now seeking to serve her community for a full four-year term and plans to expand and enhance the operations of the City Clerk's Office by increasing public participation in the election process, better utilizing technological advancements and providing increased outreach to the community.
