Maggie's professional career has always been in the field of education. A graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans, Ms. Bove-LaMonica began her career while serving in the Peace Corps, where she worked in Youth Development in a town in central Morocco. Maggie returned from her time abroad to work at Verbum Dei, an all-boys high school in South Central Los Angeles, where, aside from teaching, she coached the Soccer and Cross-Country teams, and managed the school's Community Service Program. Since leaving the classroom, she dedicates her time to working on Education Policy in Los Angeles. Ms. Bove-LaMonica has a Master's in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount, a Master's in Public Policy from the Harris School at the University of Chicago, and recently graduated from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She is also a alumnae of Education Pioneers, Bay Area. Since the Spring of 2009, Maggie has been responsible for the creation and evaluation of programs, as well as, research for and the implementation of polices that support the LMU Family of Schools. Many of her projects work to identify the root causes and policies that potentially prevent stakeholders from implementing reform or that build relationships to affect academic achievement. A native 'Angelino' and an avid surfer, Maggie resides in Hermosa Beach with her husband and their dog. Her commitment and passion remain to fix the inequity and inequality in education among populations that differ by economic strata, ethnicity, and location. |
