Dear Redwood City Neighbor, Four years ago I was honored to have been elected to the City Council by the voters in Redwood City, and now I am more excited than ever to serve our community on the City Council.

In the last four years, we have created an exciting momentum in Redwood City that continues to improve our quality of life and strengthen our local economy. Just a quick glimpse back over the last four years, you'll see that together we have accomplished a great deal at City Hall, including:

  • *Balancing our city budget and maintaining quality city services;

  • *Experiencing a continued renaissance of our Downtown;

  • *We are living in a City that is safer than ever;

  • *Expanding and adding new businesses to create jobs;

  • *Protecting the quality of life in our community.

I want to THANK YOU again for all the support I received from you during the last four years and I would be deeply grateful for your continued support in my bid for re-election.

Below are are my priorities for Redwood City if I am fortunate to be re-elected.

Thank you,

John Seybert, Council Member

My Priorities

  • Fiscal Responsibility: I will continue to vote only for balanced budgets while maintaining critical city services. I will fight to keep employee costs under control. I will ensure adequate reserves are maintained for "rainy days."

  • Public Safety Services: I will continue to support our Police & Fire Departments as they preserve Redwood City as a safe place to live, work, and play. I will continue to support increased efficiency and effectiveness through regional partnerships.

  • Senior and Youth Programs: I will continue to work toward a partnership with the YMCA to bring a new Senior Center to Redwood City; expanding and improving the much-needed services our Parks & Rec Department staff currently provide. I will continue to partner with our school districts, non-profits, youth sports groups, etc. to improve opportunities for our youth to succeed and develop into healthy young adults.

  • Downtown Revitalization: I have worked tirelessly since 2001 to see the renaissance of our Downtown become a reality. I will continue to push for additional retail stores, a clean & safe downtown for those who shop/live/work, much-needed housing to create a vibrant 24-hour environment, and on-going Friday night concerts and other cultural events.

  • Housing: I have voted for vision-driven policies and project implementation measures that have led to a housing boom in Redwood City. However, we are still in need of continued housing development that will ensure we continue to thrive in the region and maintain an appropriate jobs/housing balance and provide housing for all generations and needs.

  • Protecting Quality of Life: Continued support of our award winning parks and libraries and support are only a couple of the things I will do to make the quality of life in Redwood City desired by all.

  • Traffic: We need a new interchange at 101 & Woodside Road. I will continue to ensure funds are secured, protected, and well spent as we partner with the State of California to make this long overdue project a reality.
