Candidate for
Council Member; City of Ukiah

I've been a resident of Ukiah since 2003 when I moved here to raise a family. For 8 years, I have operated a small business in Ukiah, and I have served on the City Planning Commission since 2011. As a planning commissioner I have demonstrated solid leadership and a level-headed approach to decisions. I have proven that I do my homework and ask the right questions for the benefit of our community.

My background is a unique combination of Public Agency and Private Business Experience. As a former public employee, I took part in developing a public watershed management policy related to Municipal Storm Water Treatment. As a Principal in a private engineering firm I've gained experience in engineering project management, strategic planning, and business development.

As a member of the Ukiah City Council I will ensure that our Police and Fire Services are provided with the staff and equipment they need to protect our citizens. I am in support of Measure P and will work to make sure all of the money from Measure P goes to Staff and Equipment for our Fire and Police departments and not to general government support services.

I'm committed to developing solid working relationships with our citizens, the County, and Special Districts. I will work to improve communications between agencies, and will spend the extra time needed to make sure there is clarity and transparency in our interactions.

I will support a strong local economy utilizing my understanding of how to help small business. I see opportunities to provide incentives for new businesses that can create new full time living wage jobs. I will also work closely with our local economic development organizations to promote our unique and sustainable food system in an effort to bring food production and processing into Ukiah valley.

I will focus on improving the City's roads and infrastructure, bicycle and pedestrian facilities. I will work closely with staff and explore all available funding opportunities. I will also make the safety of our street facilities a priority during policy discussions.

Lastly, as a 40 year old father of two young children, every decision I make will take into consideration the generations to come.
