Lynn Hatton Hodson has dedicated her entire career to the field of quality education. Towards this end, she has served on both state and county level committees such as the State-wide Education Technology Group and the San Diego County California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) Task Force. Additionally, Lynn was recently elected to serve as the secretary for the Orange County School Board Association for 2014-2015 and is a Community Ambassador for STEM OC. In her early career, Lynn managed the most successful Princeton Review franchise in the country. Her work involved preparing students for acceptance into the most competitive universities. During her time at The Princeton Review, she recognized a huge need in underserved communities and decided to start a company to support disadvantaged students to achieve academically in the classroom, pass the California high school exit exam and go on to be successful in both college and career. Lynn's current company works throughout California to improve site and district school leadership and teacher's effectiveness in the classroom. Lynn was elected to the Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees in November 2010. During the past four years she has encouraged community partnerships and created an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as well as an integrated arts curriculum so that all students have the skills to reach their fullest potential. Lynn grew up in southern California and is a graduate of University of California at Irvine. She is married to Michael Hodson, who is a recently retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer, who served our country for 25 years. Together they have four children, three of whom attend Capistrano Valley High School. In addition to her work and school board responsibilities, Lynn has served her community as a PTA President, School-Site Council Member, participant in Assisteens of Saddleback Valley (which promotes philanthropy, and community service), as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster youth and in rescue groups for abused and abandoned dogs and horses. Lynn is strongly committed to ensuring that our students have what the top businesses around the country want to see in their employees: critical thinking skills, the ability to collaborate in a global economy, creative and innovative minds to develop new and enhanced products, and strong communication skills. As your trustee, Lynn will continue this focus and promise for our students, our community and our economy |
