I specialized in water protection issues throughout my career. My Ph.D. dissertation is entitled "Managing Groundwater Protection." One way to protect groundwater is to ensure that highly toxic/corrosive industrial wastewater is not discharged into the sewer system without it being pre-treated first. I wrote the plan to comply with these regulations for the City of Chino in the late 1980s. In the 1990s I was hired by the City of Bakersfield to prevent landfill gas from contaminating groundwater. This was achieved in 1999. Water conservation also helps protect groundwater aquifers. I was a founding member of the West End Water Awareness Committee for San Bernardino County while working for the City of Upland. I was also in charge of recycling for the City of Pomona until I retired in 2013 and became an environmental consultant. |
