Councilmember; City of San Luis Obispo

Dan Rivoire has an accomplished record of public service in San Luis Obispo, where he has lived for more than a decade. In 2003, he moved from Chicago to San Luis Obispo to attend Calpoly. On his first day in the dorms, he met hisincredible wife Megan, and there, thanks to his Residence Advisor, was swiftly ushered into the best community service opportunities imaginable. Organizing Free Speech Hour and Make A Difference Day led to graduation and Americorps, eventually ending up as the Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo County Bicycle Coalition.

He chaired the Chamber of Commerce Sustainability and Resource committee, emceed two Green Awards and graduated from Leadership SLO Class XIX. He currently serves on the Chamber's Economic Development committee and LUCE task force. In 2010, he was recognized with the Tribune's Top 20 Under 40 award.

As the executive director of a local organization devoted to improving transportation infrastructure, Dan has spent five years gaining a deep understanding of government and the challenges small businesses face everyday. He hopes to lead with happiness, devotion, and a commitment to building consensus in pursuit of City goals.
