Political Philosophy for Peter S. Kostas
Candidate for |
I believe strongly in early childhood education. Children must be reading at grade level by the thrid grade. Research shows that students who fall behind in reading have increased drop out rates and greater potential to be involved in the juvenile justice system. I also support greater partnerships between schools and the business community. Education is about workforce development and we need to listen to are business partners on what skills students need to be successful in the workplace. Finally, the implementation of the common core state standard and teaching 21st century skills is critical because we are preparing our children for jobs that do not yet exist. These would be the "Four C's": Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Creativity. |
