Political Philosophy for Joan Buchanan
Candidate for |

|
It's been an honor and privilege to represent you in the State Assembly. I'm proud of the work we did for our constituents Assistance finding jobs; For our small businesses, we've helped cut through red tape to secure business licenses and help them open their doors I'm proud of the legislation we passed based after listening to the needs and concerns of our constituents Restoring the Mt. Diablo Beacon; My passion is public education, and when I return to Sacramento, I am going to draw upon my experience as an 18 year school board member and chair of the Assembly Education Committee to be the strongest advocate for public education in the legislature. With 57% of our children qualifying for free and reduced price lunches and 25% being English Language Learners, we are at risk of leaving half our students behind. Every student must graduate college and career ready. AND, we must make sure college is both accessible and affordable. Nationwide student debt exceeds credit card debt. That's unacceptable. If we continue to mange our budget responsibly so that we can afford to fund the programs we value, and if we commit to investing in our most important infrastructure + our children and public education, we will build a California that will thrive for decades to come. |
