? 1. What is the most important changes you would like to see in your district and why?

Answer from Bill Hansell:

As a start, there are three areas I would focus on initially as a Board member for the District:
1.) Improved communication regarding curricula, planning, and policies: For example, I would build on the State's requirement for "Local Control and Accountability Plans" by offering more clear and readable companion versions that engage the public more effectively. I would utilize my experience with the Marinwood CSD in public outreach to more effectively keep the public informed.

2.) Strategic Planning and Vision: I have engaged in two public strategic plans for Marinwood and two for the SF-Marin Food Bank and would use that experience to chart a sustainable vision for the Dixie School District's future. Our children are educated well but I believe we can do better.

3.) Smart Management of Measure C funds: As a professional architect, I would utilize my experience to make sure our Measure C funds are well-spent. The District's facilities need improvements and the Board would benefit from the construction and project management knowledge I have to share.

Answer from Ruth Carter:

The Dixie School Board has done a very fine job of supporting our school district in maintaining a high quality of education for our students with very significant changes including implementation of the new California State Standards. I will continue that work and collaborate with others to be able to add workshops for parents so that they can support their children with these new standards.

Answer from Marnie Rose Glickman:

Our community believes our district is being run very well. We need to restore our financial health by replenishing our reserve fund which is at a 15 year low. We also need to improve communication between the district, parents and community members.
