1. How would you rate the district's infrastructure? What needs to be repaired or modernized?
|
Answer from Jeff Slavitz:
RBSD infrastructure consists of pipes and pump stations. Sewage in the district flows through the pipes to the Mill Valley SASM plant for treatment. Once treated the sewage flows through RBSD pipes again to the bay at the end of Tiburon. The pipes and pump stations are in good repair. However, RBSD is a 1/3 member of SASM and that plant needs to be upgraded with a projected cost of $30-60 million. That means the RBSD share of the upgrade will cost $10-20 million. Rate payers will ultimately be responsible for this cost. RBSD needs to work effectively with SASM to construct the most cost effective plant upgrade. RBSD will also have to work with rate payers to fairly increase their rates for the first time in a long time.
