Political Philosophy for Tarey Ayn Read
Candidate for |

|
I have more than twice the experience on the Board of all possible members combined. I have a B.A. in Economics, a Juris Doctor, and a Master of Tax Law, nine years on the Board, 23 years in Marinwood, and a whole lifetime of experience. My three primary concerns for Marinwood are: (1) Restructuring for fiscal sustainability in a jurisdiction with almost no growth in revenues. We can't and don't get any sales taxes, and property turnover is, because of our great neighborhood, very low. Restructuring is our only real source of money for capital improvements and pension liabilities. We have a sustainability report; we need to continue to apply it. (2) Fair treatment for all employees, both on Fire/Emergency Services and on Parks and Recreation, while realizing that firefighters put themselves at risk for us every day. After all, what good does it do to plant trees if they just burn? (3) Continue exemplary service to the community, continuing my ongoing efforts to get full Paramedic services at our fire station, conducting District business--with your money--with respect and appropriate transparency, and making financial statements more understandable and informative.
I will work for a policy that gives more time for the public to examine and comment on contract terms before decisions are made. Conversely, the move to have every offer, whether or not accepted, audited and published would result in a huge cost in time and money to a small district like ours, and some provisions likely are banned by the Brown Act. While much ado has been made about COIN, as much litigation is ongoing. Let's craft a local solution that works for us. Housing While not in our jurisdiction, still I strongly support quality workplace and senior housing. Please send me back to continue working for you. |
