Implement New Development PlanBy G. "Garry" CopeCandidate for City Council Member; City of Palmdale | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I want to develop and implement a new slower growth plan for development. The vision and existing development plan of the past and present city councils is obviously flawed. Although it has helped certain sections of Palmdale, busin from downtown and east Palmdale does not bring us more jobs, just more blight. What people see, coming through our city and within walking distance of city hall are whited washed windows of closed businesses, a downtown that is being abandoned by it's residents, planning commission, and city council. While that may not be totally accurate, it is the preception with which many walk away with. There is no douubt the present plan is o enjoy proserity. A new plan, one that takes in imput from and involves the trade board, the local chambers of commerce, local school districts, and all other local government organizations, can be made and effected for a slower growth development. It would be a plan where Palmdale would have enough supply water and power, a good idea on how to handle the educational needs of increasing student populations, enough enticements for businesses to proper anywhere in Palmdale, and enough enforcement and fire protection folks meet their goals of security and protection. |
