Candidate for
Board Member; Salinas City Elementary School District; Trustee Area 1

My name is John Aaron. I am 44 years old, and my wife Rose and I have been married for almost 9 years.

I have taught elementary school for 11 years. I currently teach second grade at Frank Paul Elementary School in the Alisal Union School District.

My step-daughter attended Salinas City and Alisal schools, and she will be 21 years old next month.

For 15 years I have been active in improving public schools. For two years I was president of my local teachers' association, and I have been an officer in that same association for five years. Being the president of a 400 member teacher organization provided valuable leadership training that would serve me well as your trustee. I have attended approximately 100 school board meetings, and I am very familiar with school board protocals and procedures.

I have also served as an officer in two Parent Teacher Organizations helping to organize many fundraisers and school events such as assemblies and carnivals.

I have served on numerous committees, too many to list here but they range from hiring committees, budget committees to curriculum committees.
