I am a 30-year-old Russian Hill/North Beach resident who has been involved in the political process for roughly 12 years. I was born in the Bay Area, but grew up all over our country before returning three years ago. I attended school in Iowa, where I first caught the political bug courtesy of that state's first-in-the-nation Presidential Caucuses. I was courted into the GOP by my mother, who fell in love with Ronald Reagan when she was living here in California. I stayed in Iowa through college, receiving my degrees in Political Science and Journalism from Iowa State University. I then went to work for U.S. Senator Charles Grassley in Washington. Since then I have been in and out of politics professionally, but always involved as a citizen and volunteer. I attended a Master's program at the University of Florida's political campaigning school. I served as media director for an Iowa gubernatorial campaign, volunteered for several other races and for state parties, and most recently managed a short-lived congressional campaign in Silicon Valley's 15th District. My other professional work has been media related, including journalism, public relations and marketing. I have also grown up in and around a family in the restaurant business, which ultimately inspired me to become a part investor and manager of restaurants here in SF, making me all the more interested in contributing to my community's government. |
