The city is poised for a housing growth spurt as adjacent land is annexed and developed.
Due to agricultural easments the growth of the city has been curtailed. At this time there is no additional land within the city limits on which to build much needed housing. The D'Arrigo land and the Fanoe Ranch to the east are both being considered for development. Those areas would provide a much needed relief to the housing crunch but moderation is needed. The city must take a lead in the development plans by stating the city's position that inclusionary housing must be provided along with aminities that will provide for the increase in population these developments will bring. It is my intention to do all I possibly can to maintain the small town, family atmosphere of our city as we grow. Parks, playgrounds, schools and public service facilities must be provided. There is a tremedous profit to be made because of the sellers market. The developers will be held responsible for all required infastrucure to accomplish these goals as set out by the council. Experience once again will be required to deal with the developers to assure our public needs are met. Having grown up as a farmers son I never forget the engine that drives our valley.
