New Water Sources and Long Range PlanningBy Darrell W. GentryCandidate for Board Member; Vallecitos Water District; Division 5 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
It is imperative that Vallecitos Water District Board consider and approve a new long-range planning strategy for long-term growth and development within the District. This long-range effort is well underway by District staff, and shortly will be presented for public review. My background and professional experience as a certified urban planner and former Director of Planning should prove invaluable to this upcoming process. As your elected VWD--Division 5 Board member, I will bring my 20+ years of professional urban planning experience to bear in promoting and eventually adopting such a long-range water planning document. This document will address VWD's plans, goals and strategies for future growth, development and water demands. This long-range planning document must also identify potential new water sources through the use of: desalination, water transfer agreements, local sources, and of course continued water conservation. As a former City Council member, I understand and know how to provide the needed political leadership within the region to assure that VWD's needs and services are adequate to serve this future growth and development. |
