Support Mendocino College administration, faculty and staff in providing high-qualify, enriching and affordable education for our greater communityI know from personal experience that the administration, faculty and staff of Mendocino College are doing a great job in identifying issues which are critical to the growth of the college and that they are performing effective intermediate- and long-range planning to address the issues. Applicable initiatives include outreach to the local community, starting programs that provide a sound base for upper-level courses and appropriately adjusting to changing needs of the community and the region -- for example, the greater percentage of Latino students who will be matriculating in the near future. Such programs need continuing support and occasional refinements. The primary emphasis needs to be on continuing to provide high-quality education and developmental opportunities for Mendocino College students. This requires appropriate resources, including equitable compensation for instructors, administrators and staff personnel, appropriate facilities and equipment for all programs (including those accommodating athletic and extracurricular activities for the students). A complementary need is an appropriate amount of resources devoted to community and regional outreach -- in advertising the capabilities and attributes of the college. If elected, it will be extremely rewarding for me to be a member of the team that will continue aiding Mendocino College growth and achievement of its full potential -- in serving its students and the greater community.
