Support outreach to residents of Mendocino, Lake and Sonoma Counties: Mendocino College is indeed a "gem" -- valuable, available and affordableMendocino College offers instructors and professors who are most proficient and effective. Having taken several evening school courses at the college, I know first-hand that these educators could excel in major colleges and universities, yet they choose to serve the educational needs of our community/region instead. It would be most beneficial to increase outreach efforts for Mendocino, Lake and Sonoma County residents. They need to be aware of the high-quality, affordable and challenging learning programs available through the college. I can visualize a "reverse traffic flow" posed by college students coming up from Sonoma County to take certain curricula offered here at Mendocino College. If elected, I will work closely with fellow Board members and administration representatives to envision yet more opportunities for interaction with the greater community. Such initiatives may include increased support for county and municipal government training needs and (perhaps) initiation of focused educational programs for industry groups such as the American Public Works Association.
