Restoring Financial Stability to the City of St. Bernard

During my current term, many hard decisions have been made to maintain and stabilize St. Bernard's financial situation. Undisciplined spending by city council, myself included, had resulted in dangerously low reserves. Drastic changes were made in how the City of St. Bernard did business.

Decisive action by the administration and city council curbed spending. The passage of a property tax increase as well as an increase in the earned income tax has restored lost income to the city.

It is important that city leaders not fall back into their old ways of overspending. I intend to carefully watch city spending and encourage the development and implementation of a 5 year budget to insure that the City of St. Bernard and its citizens do not have to go through the turmoil of this past year again.
