Name: REGINA DOYLE Occupation: International Health Educator Education: BA in Public Administration, California State University, Fresno; MA in Education, University of London I am a health education consultant with over 25 years' experience in developing and managing public education programs, including on water, environmental, and sanitation issues. I spent the majority of my early years in Pacific Grove (from Robert Down through PG High School), then left the Peninsula for my higher education (see above) and work (Peace Corps, UNICEF, and others). Since returning to Pacific Grove with my husband, an international water engineer, I have been deeply interested in the ongoing water supply and conservation issues facing our area. I have wide experience working with a broad spectrum of stakeholders + political leaders, civil servants, non-governmental organizations and special interest groups. Most of my career has been spent developing health education materials in developing countries working for government institutions through UNICEF, World Health Organization, World Bank, and others. I believe that the processes and principles of encouraging participation and representing the interests of the local people are common to all societies, including ours. If elected, I will do my best to work in a collaborative manner with the MPWMD board and all those with an interest in water. I will seek to promote practical, affordable water conservation, reuse and reclamation practices and technologies for the optimal use of this scarce resource, including minimizing unaccounted-for and lost water. I hope to use my special skills in public health education to heighten awareness and practical actions to increase everyday habits in water conservation and protection. I support the promotion of other affordable water supply augmentation sources and systems. I hope to maintain a judicious balance between preserving our standard of living, addressing economic development and responsibly meeting collective legal obligations to protect our environment and ecosystems. I will try to ensure transparency and fairness in all of my dealings on water supply in the best interests of the people of the Monterey Peninsula. |
