For Jim Patterson, public service is a way of life. He has served his community and led by example throughout the 33 years he has lived and worked in SLO County. His professional accomplishments include owning and building a thriving business, managing a farming and ranching enterprise, and spearheading the water conservation program for the Atascadero Mutual Water Company.

As a businessman and community leader, Jim has listened carefully and worked effectively with others to find creative solutions to complex problems. In the process he has earned a reputation as someone who can build bridges between people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests.

A Native Californian and Cal Poly graduate, Jim Patterson was the Water Conservation Manager for the Atascadero Mutual Water Company, a certified arborist, and former owner of Bay Laurel Garden Center (recipient of the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Community Service Award). He built his home in South Atascadero in 1977, where he raised his son, Jesse, a 2002 graduate of UCSB.
