My platform contains 4 key points.During my term in office I have advocated the televising of School Board meetings as a way to improve transparency and allow more members of the community to receive information and get involved. It is rare that we have more than a handful of community members in attendance at our regular and committee Board meetings. I have also advocated putting a system in place by which Senior citizens can volunteer in our schools and receive tax credits. I will continue to advocate these positions if I am elected to a second term. My voting record shows a clear pattern of being fiscally conservative and wanting clear justification for the expenditure of funds which are dear to us all, especially in these trying times. I feel that there is waste in the budget and I have advocated developing budgets based on the principles of zero based budgeting and demonstrating that money spent reaps meaningful rewards. I am in favor of instituting a pay for performance system which is based on objective and fair measures. I do not feel that our current methods of evaluation take into account what actually takes place in a classroom on a frequent basis and it does not involve feedback from students and parents. |
