Fiscal Responsibility- The hiring of a new City ManagerBy Brad BarberCandidate for Council Member; City of Laguna Niguel | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Maintaining tight controls over the city's budgets is vital. In addition, for the first time in the cities history we will be hiring a new City Manager.FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY means not overspending, and not burdening future generations with our bills. In the words of Thomas Jefferson: "the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity [is] swindling futurity on a large scale." The City Manager acts as the CEO of the city. The identification and hiring the right person for this job is crucial. This person must understand the rich history of this great town and have the desire and passion to improve what is already a wonderful city. The compensation of all city employees must be reasonable and not a burden the city. I refuse to burden this city with long term contracts that threaten its future. |
